“Jesus the Healer: The Friend You’ve Been Missing”
Why Your Healing Requires God the Son Himself
Today, I want to introduce you to the Friend you’ve been missing. The only Member of the Trinity who knows exactly what it feels like to be human, and the only One who can personally heal your soul infections. Join me from the shores of Coastal Hope as we learn to walk with the Healer.
Because true healing begins not when we understand more, but when we meet the One who understands everything, we take the most important step of all because healing happens when you encounter Jesus the Healer Himself. Most Christians talk about “God” in general. Or emphasize the Holy Spirit’s help. But somehow, Jesus gets pushed to the background. Treated as the Savior who died 2,000 years ago and now sits passively in heaven.
But that is not what Scripture teaches. And it is not the Jesus who heals the soul. Let me show you the Friend you’ve been missing.
Here’s the THE MOST OVERLOOKED PROMISE of God. Hear Jesus’ own words in the last sentence of Matthew’s Gospel: “Behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20. Not the Father. Not the Holy Spirit. Jesus. This is not poetry. This is His permanent, present-tense promise. “I am… with you… always.”
Jesus claims a kind of companionship no one else in heaven or earth offers. He doesn’t promise to be “for you from a distance.” He promises to be with you, beside you, accompanying you, personally involved in your healing.
Matthew begins his Gospel with “Immanuel, God with us,”
and ends with Jesus saying, “I am with you always.” Friend, the entire Christian life is designed to be lived with Jesus.
Let me show you why encountering Jesus personally is essential for healing the soul.
These are seven distinctives Scripture gives to Jesus alone. Distinctives believers often mistakenly attribute elsewhere.
First, JESUS UNDERSTANDS YOU AS AN ELDER BROTHER. Romans 8:29 calls Him “the firstborn among many brothers.” Hebrews 4 says He is the High Priest who sympathizes with your weaknesses because He has felt them Himself. Only one Person in the Holy Trinity has lived in human flesh. Only one has carried human pain. When you confess your struggle, Jesus doesn’t just understand, He remembers what it felt like.
JESUS PERSONALLY SANCTIFIES AND HEALS. God the Father Almighty initiated redemption. The Holy Spirit regenerates. But 1 Corinthians 1:30 declares Jesus is your sanctification. The One who personally purifies and restores your soul. When He heals your soul infection, it’s not just “general divine power.” It is the God-Man Himself applying His healing to your specific wound.
JESUS IS ALSO YOUR HIGH PRIEST AND ADVOCATE. Hebrews 4 invites you to draw near to the throne of grace because Jesus the Son of God represents you there. This is why bypassing Jesus in prayer is “out of order.” The God the Father Himself appointed Jesus as your Advocate, so your prayers would pass through nail-pierced hands.
JESUS ACTS BY HIS OWN AUTHORITY Jesus said, “No one takes my life from me… I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and authority to take it up again.” John 10:18 Jesus does not wait for heavenly permission to help you. He is not dependent on the Holy Spirit to empower Him. When you cry, “Jesus, help me,” He responds with His own authority.
JESUS IS THE VICTOR WHO SHARES HIS CONQUEST WITH YOU
1 John (3:8) tells us, “The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.”
Jesus didn’t defeat Satan from His throne. He defeated him in our human nature. So now He can share His victory with you. One bondage, one fear, one soul infection at a time. Because, “Those whom the Son sets free are free indeed.” (John 8:36) Not someday. Not theoretically. Actually. Now.
JESUS IS THE WISDOM OF GOD WHO KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT YOU NEED 1 Corinthians 1 calls Jesus the Wisdom of God. He knows the root beneath every symptom.
He knows what you cannot see in yourself. He knows when you’re ready for healing. And when He needs to wait and strengthen you first. This is why conversational prayer with Jesus works so powerfully. He is not guessing. He knows.
JESUS CALLS YOU FRIEND John 15 (:15) “I have called you friends.” Not servants. Not subjects. Friends. This means the healing of your soul is not clinical. It’s relational. It’s friendship with the God-Man who loves you.
So how do we walk in this healing friendship? How does soul-mapping turn into soul-healing? Let me give you a simple pattern. The same patern I use in my own walk with Jesus.
Step 1: Address Jesus Directly Don’t pray “around” Jesus. Don’t ask the Holy Spirit to speak for Him. Just begin: “Lord Jesus, show me what You want to change in me today.”
Step 2: Let Jesus Reveal What Needs Healing Perhaps: A memory. A belief. A wound. A pattern.
A lie. Don’t hide it. Don’t explain it. Just let Him show you the truth.
Step 3: Ask Two Transformational Questions
“Jesus, what does this wound say about me?” Then: “Lord, what do You say about me?”
Write His truth beside the lie. Ask Him to heal the wound, to fill it with His love. Ask Him to cast it from you. Ask for His forgiveness to remove the guilt and shame. To be remembered against you no more.
Step 4 Follow Jesus One Soul Infection at a Time. He doesn’t demand you fix everything at once.
Healing is progressive. Personal. Specific. When you walk with Jesus, your accounts with Him stay short, your conscience stays clean, and your soul begins to find real freedom.
Step 5: Prepare Your Heart for the Joyful Judgment Seat. Every believer has an appointment with Jesus. Not for condemnation, but for reward. As you settle each conviction with Him now, one at a time, you prepare for a celebration later. A moment when you may hear, “Well done, good and faithful friend.”
THE HEART OF THIS MESSAGE IS Talking with Jesus, walking with Jesus, working with Jesus,
is the most soul-satisfying experience this side of heaven. Romans 5:17 promises: “Those who receive the gift of righteousness reign in life through the One Man, Jesus Christ.” Not someday.
Not theoretically. Now.
What God the Father makes available through friendship with His Son includes:
Personal presence, Divine power that heals, Human understanding that knows, Eternal victory shared now, Progressive transformation that frees your soul.
This is what Jesus offers you. Not religion. Not rules. Not distant deity requiring others to represent you. He offers relationship. Living fellowship. Today. Right now.
Call on Him directly. He answers. Talk with Him conversationally. He responds. Bring Him your soul infections. He is able to heal every one. Jesus is not only your Savior from 2,000 years ago. He is your present, personal, powerful Friend. Immanuel, God with you. Amen!
But here's the shocking part. And this is what we'll talk about next episode. There's a reason we can't access Jesus as Healer. It's not about faith. It's not because you're not trying hard enough. It's because of something the church stopped talking about 1,700 years ago. Something about the nature of sin itself. Something about what actually happened in the Garden of Eden.
And once you understand this, everything changes.
